Abstract This study is based on its status quo in relation to the construction and development of "the 30' circle of sports life" in Shanghai as well as its implementation. A systematic research is conducted into the construction of the city's circle of daily sports life and the deployment of the relevant public sports facility, which proposes the development of a system for public sports facility deployment consistent with the circle of daily sports life in Shanghai. With advance research built firmly on the thorough collection of sufficient amount of research data, the study further employs the theory and methodology of ‘metropolitan life circle’ and ‘chronological geography’. It separates and constructs the circles and layers of daily sports life for the city of Shanghai, and makes a proposition of a three-fold system of the circle of daily sports life-primary circle of sports life, basic circle of sports life, and optional circle of sports life. On this basis of the three-fold system of the circle of daily sports life, and taking into careful consideration of the ‘focal region theory’ and the situation of the city's public sports facilities, it proposes a model and standard for public sports facility deployment for the circle of daily sports life in Shanghai. Finally, it makes suggestions for the deployment of public sports facility necessary for the construction of Shanghai's daily sports circle, according to the governmental requirement and the present situation as well for the construction and development of the daily sports circle for the city of Shanghai. The theories and methodologies of "metropolitan life circle" and "chronological geography" are applied to help with the construction of the circle of daily sports life; at the same time, this layering system for daily sports circle shapes the deployment of public sports facility for the city.
